Course Description: Topics will include systems of linear
equations, matrix algebra, vectors in 2-and 3-space. Functions of several
variables, partial derivatives. Vector-valued functions, space curves, arc
length, curvature. Multiple and iterated integrals in rectangular,
cylindrical, and spherical coordinates. Scalar and vector fields, line
integrals, calculus of vector functions. (4.5h lecture)

Software: Maple is available on the Network. This may be used for the completion of some assignments. Tests and exams will not involve Maple and your laptop computers will not be permitted in tests and exams. Calculators are permitted in all tests and exams.
Assignments: There will be weekly assignments, given on Thursday and due the following Thursday AT THE START OF CLASS. Late assignments will generally not be accepted.
Quizzes: There will be a weekly quiz.
Tests: There will be two tests - dates to be announced in class.
Final Examination: There will be a 3-hour final examination during the examination period. The date for the examination will be announced during the term. DO NOT MAKE ANY TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS UNTIL THE DATE IS FINALIZED because the regular examination will be be given at an alternate time.
Grading Scheme: You will receive the grade that gives you the higher of the two marks calculated as follows:

You are encouraged to work together on the homework, but you are expected to turn in your own assignments. Submitting someone else’s work as your own, copying on tests, and other forms of cheating will be dealt with under the clause concerning Academic Integrity in the Acadia Calendar.
