Mathematics and Statistics

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Acadia University held the 14th Annual Acadia University Mathematics Competition on Saturday, March 26, 2026. This competition was open to all undergraduate students at Acadia, from every department and faculty, and also welcomed local high school students to participate.

There was a great turnout with 48 students who wrote the for the competition. The problems were thoughtfully designed to challenge participants’ mathematical mental toughness without requiring advanced mathematical topics. Most could be solved using high school mathematics, such as geometry and trigonometry, along with some first-year calculus and a sprinkle of ingenuity.
