Food Security, Community & Our Newly Renovated Math Lounge
Food security is an important part of creating a supportive campus community. The Department of Mathematics & Statistics has partnered with local companies and community organizations to help provide food for our students each week. Our goal is to make sure students have access to food while also creating a welcoming space where they can connect, relax, and feel at home.
In the Math Lounge, the department provides coffee, hot chocolate, tea, and snacks. Students are welcome to stop by, grab something to eat or drink, or use the space to make their lunch. It is a comfortable place to gather with fellow students, a little place outside of home where they can study, take a break, have a conversation, or simply spend some time.
Most importantly, students are always greeted with a smile when they walk into the Math Lounge. We want it to be a place where everyone feels welcome and knows that they belong.
The Math Department also underwent many renovations during the summer of 2024. The renovations helped transform the space into the warm, inviting, and functional area our students enjoy today.
Below, you will see some of our before and after photos showcasing the transformation of the Math Lounge.
