Math & Stat grad wins 2 presentation awards at national statistics conferences
Neil Spencer (B.Sc. Hon 2013) won prizes for best presentation at two national Statistics conferences in Montreal. At the Canadian Statistics Student Conference (CSSC) he won "Best presentation by a graduate student", and at the Statistical Society of Canada (SSC) conference, he won "Best student research presentation in Probability".
Neil is pursuing a doctoral degree at Carnegie Mellon University, in the Department of Statistics & Data Science, and the Machine Learning Department. His research is at the intersection of point process models, network models, and efficient Bayesian inference, with applications in Forensic Science, the social sciences, and neuroscience.
